Game VFX Artist

WarDucks is looking for a Visual Effects artist to conceptualize and animate environment effects, combat effects, and cinematic effects. Candidate must be resourceful and reliable, with an eye for detail and the ability to work as an integral part of a focused team. They must also have a passion for games and strong problem-solving skills. You will be joining us at the start of an amazing adventure, helping to create a game that will push boundaries and engage millions of gamers worldwide.


  • Create stunning VFX for the game, including but not limited to combat ability VFX, character VFX, environmental VFX, explosions, weather effects, skyboxes, etc
  • Have creative input and ownership of their VFX solutions
  • Collaborate closely with Art and Dev leads to create solutions to VFX requests, collect feedback and iterate on work
  • Participate in planning and milestone delivery for the FX


  • 3+ years experience in the game industry (or demonstrated equivalent visual effects ability)
  • Experience with creating FX in Unity
  • Experience in Photoshop and Maya required
  • Ability to view visual reference of an effect, deconstruct it, and re-create it in a real-time game engine
  • Strong knowledge of environmental effects and lighting
  • Ability to do some animation, understanding of physics
  • Ability to adapt to, match, and even expand upon the current project’s art style and work within those stylistic conventions
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills


  • Portfolio of VFX created in the past
  • Experience with real-time, node-based shader editors
  • Experience with mobile platforms
  • After Effects (preferred); Houdini experience an advantage
  • An understanding of game technology and pipelines
  • Experience with mobile platforms
